I've always wanted to name my home as they did in the olden days. The House of Seven Gables, Wuthering Heights, etc inspired this romantic notion. The name I want to name my home is La Casa Girasole. Translated from it's Italian it means The House of Sunflowers. Girasole when broken down means gira - to turn, and sole - the sun. So literally turn to the sun. I love that. It makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside and when I stroll up the path to my home I want to see it emblazonded on a bronze marker on the entrance to my home so that all that come to my home know that it is the house of sunlight, the house of sunflowers.
Well, I found the perfect house, in the perfect cul-de-sac on Sunflare Cove. What a perfect name for the perfect cul-de-sac for my Casa Girasole. Only problem is getting the house. My husband and I have been working furiously to clear our credit and pay off all old debt to qualify for the loan we need for the home. It is fully within our budget, we both have nice incomes, our debt to income ratio is low, and we've paid off all our old debt. We re-ran our credit reports, and low and behold, THEY DROPPED. Why? because we paid off all our credit debt and closed old accounts that caused the problems in the first place.
I always thought that one should be rewarded for getting out of debt and not using credit aka FAKE MONEY if you don't need to. We pay in cash for everything. If we don't have the money for it we simply don't buy it. That is smart isn't it? Apparantly not. So, where to go from here. Seems that we will need to get some of that fake monopoly money, spend it on frivolous cheap things and pay it off each month on time to re-earn credit. The game is ridiculous, the economic times are ridiculous, the solutions are ridiculous, so I guess when you look at the ridiculousness of it all, getting fake money and playing a little Monopoly fits right in.
So, in trying to keep my bright and sunny disposition (mantra - Girasole, Girasole, Girasole) my husband and I will continue to live in the same rental we've lived in for the last 5 years with our gorgeous children and continue to play this game. We will make our rental feel more like a home. I will hang curtains, and take more pride and "pretend" that it is the house of my dreams. One of these days soon we will pass GO and get our home on Sunflare Cove (praying it will still be there) and I will straight away go make my plaque that reads "La Casa Girasole".
